Head to Head

The Reds head to the City Ground tomorrow with a pretty poor record there- Barnsley have taken three points from Nottingham just once in their last nine visits. That though did come in the last trip, when two goals from Marc Richards earned a 2-0 win in front of the SKY Cameras in The Reds promotion winning season of 2005-2006. This result completed a season double of then manager Gary Megson's side as goals from Barry Conlon and Chris Shuker had secured the same scoreline at Oakwell in September. Barnsley actually have a good home record against the former European Champions. Forest have won just once in their last six visits.

This Season:

Nottingham Forest are absolutely desperate for points if they are not going to make an immediate return to League One. The former European Champions were relegated to the third tier of English football for the first time in their history in 2005 and have spent the last three years trying to get back up. They managed it last season but have had a torrid time. Forest have won just two of their 19 games this season and are rooted to the foot of the Championship with just 13 points, six adrift of safety. They have proven harder to beat in recent weeks however and Colin Calderwood's side have drawn four of their last five games, including a 0-0 stalemate at fellow strugglers Doncaster on Tuesday.

Barnsley meanwhile are hoping to clinch their third away win in four and their sixth victory in their last nine games. Monday's 3-2 win over Burnley temporarily hoisted The Reds up to 14th in the table and they could go as high as 12th with a win tomorrow.
