Team News

Reds boss Simon Davey has a few selection headaches as The Reds prepare to face Coventry in their first home game of the season for the THIRD year in a row.

Darren Moore and Hugo Colace are rated doubtful, and Iain Hume is nursing a thigh injury. Adam Hammill should come in for Martin Devaney as he did on Tuesday whilst Daniel Bogdanovic is pushing to replace Kayode Odejayi after scoring the winner at Lincoln. O'Neil Thompson and Emil Hallfredsson are both expected to still be inelligble.

Likely Line-Up:

Head to Head

Barnsley have a torrid recent record against the Sky Blues having lost six of the last seven meetings. In three of those games Coventry have rattled in four. In 2007-2008 the Sky Blues won 4-1 at Oakwell and 4-0 at the Ricoh Arena! The Reds came agonisingly close to ending the rut back in April when a controversial last minute penalty decision saw Coventry claim a 1-1 draw. As mentioned before this is the third successive season that Barnsley's first home game has been against Coventry. The Reds have not tasted victory over the Sky Blues since the Premier League season in 1997-1998

This Season

Coventry have won their opening game of the season for the fourth successive year- they defeated Roy Keane's Ipswich 2-1 last Sunday. They did suffer Carling Cup humiliation on Wednesday however, losing 1-0 at home to League One Hartlepool after extra time.

Barnsley are still unbeaten in 2009-2010 after the 2-2 draw at Sheffield Wednesday and 1-0 cup win at Lincoln. Incredibly it means this is The Reds best start since the 2004-2005 season. If they avoid defeat on Saturday it will be the first time they have been undefeated in their first three games since the start of the 1994-95 season!
