Reds boss Simon Davey has accepted goal-keeper Nick Colgan's request to be placed on the transfer list.

Republic of Ireland International Colgan had been the No.1 at Oakwell ever since his arrival in the summer of 2004. But Davey's acquisition of 6ft 7 German Heinz Muller this summer has pushed Colgan out of the side.

Colgan,34, played in the opening day 4-1 defeat against Coventry but hasn't featured since.

Davey told the Official Website:

"Nick has requested to leave. We have accepted his request."

Colgan has made 114 appearances for his club with his best moment coming when his penalty shootout stop from Alan Tate saw Barnsley promoted to the Championship in 2006.
