Interesting Stats:

Barnsley and Crawley have met only once before, on the opening day of this season when the West Sussex outfit departed Oakwell with a 1-0 victory.

When a Crawley side then managed by John Gregory started the 2014-2015 campaign with a win at Oakwell, many of their supporters hoped only their third ever season at this level would be a successful one.

When they followed that win in South Yorkshire with another 1-0 success against Swindon in their next outing to give them wins in their opening two league fixtures for only their second time ever in the Football League, some fans may even have been dreaming of a tilt at getting Championship football for the first time ever. Unfortunately since that start, they have won just four of 28 matches and are now second from bottom, five points adrift of safety.

Only one of those victories have come within the last 16 league outings, and Crawley have lost five of their last six matches and eight of the last 11.

Crawley, now under the stewardship of Dean Saunders come into this match having being thumped on their own patch, going down 5-0 to Doncaster. That result means Crawley have conceded 54 league goals this season, the most in the division and their goal difference of –27 is the worst in League One.

The Doncaster debacle was Crawley’s 15th defeat of the season, only Yeovil (16) have lost more.

Despite their desperate form Crawley have shown signs of improvement at the Broadfield Stadium (the Rovers result apart) and that defeat is their only one at home in their past four although two have been draws.

Indeed of the last seven matches played there, four have ended in stalemate.

Crawley should not be underestimated despite their lowly position. They have beaten or drawn with three of the division’s current top four sides.
