Danny On Brink Of Promotion

Exactly 10 years after Danny Wilson led Barnsley into the Premiership for the one and only time in the club's history he is set to lead Hartlepool United back into League One at the first attempt!

Barnsley were promoted at the end of the 1996-1997 season and now in 2006-2007 Hartlepool sit 12 points clear of fourth placed MK Dons with 12 points left to play for. Pools superior goal-difference means they are now virtually promoted.

Wilson has galvanised Hartlepool since taking over after their relegation from League One - 12 months after losing to Sheffield Wednesday in the Play-Off Final- and he led to a fantastic 23 match unbeaten run before losing 2-1 at Barnet on Saturday. Hartlepool defeated Accrington Stanley 1-0 yesterday.

Wilson told the Official Hartlepool website:

"Until we see that 'P' at the side of our names we're not promoted,"

"It's going to take a massive effort from MK Dons and some poor performances from us but you can't count any chickens - you never ever know.
