Davey delighted with fixtures

Barnsley boss Simon Davey is looking forward to taking his side to Loftus Road to take on mega rich Queens Park Rangers on the opening day of the 2008-2009 season.

The Reds will travel to West London on Saturday 9th August 2008 and Davey told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"The opening game is always unpredictable and we are away from Oakwell for the first time in four years. We have a fixture against one of the richest clubs in the country and one who will probably have a host of new faces in their team by the time we kick off on August 9.

"It is a great one to look forward to and one where we can test ourselves and hopefully show that we can compete again in one of the world's greatest leagues".

It is well worth nothing that Barnsley have lost each of their last five visits to Loftus Road and have only won there once - 5-0 in 1950!

Also QPR are under the management of Iain Dowie who ironically took his then Coventry side to Oakwell on the opening day of last season, and won 4-1 before thumping The Reds 4-0 at the Ricoh Arena in February!
