Davey Looks To Strengthen Before Deadline

Reds boss Simon Davey has hinted he may move into the loan market before the deadline arrives, and defensive cover is a priority.

The four defenders who played against Birmingham- Marciano Van Homoet, Darren Moore, Dennis Souza and Rob Kozluk are his only available defenders at the moment.

Davey told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"We could bring someone in before the deadline again and that is something we might work on in the next few days. We are a little short of cover defensively and that is an area we might strengthen.

"We have been making phone calls but things tend to change day by day. The deadline is coming up and we have to make sure we have our ducks in a row when we have to move."

Meanwhile Spanish midfielder Diego Leon came through 60 minutes for the Reserves last night. Leon has been missing through injury since January. He will not be available for this Saturday's game with Blackpool though.
