The Reds have clinched their second signing of transfer deadline day by bringing in Liverpool winger Adam Hammill on loan until the end of the season.

Hammill, a born and bred Scouser has had loan spells with Dunfermline Athletic in the SPL and Championship sides Southampton and Blackpool. He is highly rated by Rafa Benitez and is tied down at Anfield until 2011.

He spoke of his move to Barnsley:

"Part of Liverpool's development programme is to make sure that lads who have just made the first team squad get plenty of competitive experience at a decent level. I played in the Scottish Cup Final with Dunfermline in the SPL and it was a great experience, but the boss wanted me to move to the Championship where my performances can be monitored more easily and there is strong competition week in week out.

"I have had decent spells at Southampton and Blackpool and had the chance to return to Bloomfield Road where I had enjoyed my spell.I also had the chance to go on loan in the transfer window to Sheffield United and Leeds, but after discussing it with Liverpool and my agent, it was decided that I should join Simon Davey at Barnsley when the opportunity arose. I hope that the fans at Oakwell will give an out and out Scouser top support because I am really up for helping Barnsley win some games.I'm used to fighting for a Red cause."
