Edwards In Talks With Brewers

Recently released Barnsley defender is in talks with League Two side Burton Albion ahead of a proposed move to the Brewers.

The 30-year-old centre back joined the Reds from Blackpool in 2011, becoming one of Keith Hill's first acquisitions at Oakwell.

But his Barnsley career has been blighted by injury and he only made 18 appearances for the Reds and spent time away on loan this season with Fleetwood and Shrewsbury Town.

Meanwhile, Reds midfielder Stephen Dawson has told the official Barnsley website that the last few weeks have been the best of his life.

Firstly, he was part of the side that secured Championship survival at Huddersfield Town on the last day of the season. Then on Sunday, Dawson's brother Kevin won promotion to the second tier with Yeovil Town to set up a Dawson v Dawson clash next season.

Then, to cap it all off, Stephen became a proud father to a baby daughter, Alexis. He told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

“It’s been the best few weeks of my life,”

“Nobody had given them (Yeovil) a chance, a bit like us,” he continued. “I’m so proud that I’m going to play him next season. I said I’m going to go easy on him! Six months ago he was playing in the League of Ireland and now he’ll be in the Championship.

“It means the world to me, my little girl being born and to stay up the way we did – proving everyone wrong then going to Wembley with my family to see my little brother get promoted – absolutely magic.

“I’ve never played against him (brother) before. I was a nervous wreck for 95 minutes at Wembley watching him! He loves his football, he’s just like me and we know we’re very lucky in what we do. I’m looking forward to it.

“We used to play in the street growing up. He always used to join in as kids and he’d get kicked about a bit.”
