FA Cup Third Round: Barnsley v Walsall

Last updated : 07 January 2006 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)

Tommy Wright is in line to make his home debut and could partner Paul Hayes upfront. Scott Flinders will fight Nick Colgan for the goalkeeping jersey after the young England stopper has started every cup game this season bar The FA Cup First Round tie with Darlington. To note though, that cup game is the only one The Reds have kept a clean sheet in!

Probable LineUp:

Nick Colgan/Scott Flinders

Neil Austin

Matt Carbon

Paul Reid

Robbie Williams/Dale Tonge

Martin Devaney/Stephen McPhail

Jacob Burns

Brian Howard

Chris Shuker

Paul Hayes

Tommy Wright

The Reds have only ever faced Walsall once before in the FA Cup. A 3-1 defeat back in January 1937.

But our recent home record against the Saddlers is pretty impressive. We have won the last FIVE encounters at Oakwell with Walsall not registering a victory here since 1983. Barnsley defeated Walsall at Oakwell 2-1 back in October which moved them into the play-off places.
