FA get a Steele

The FA have fined Reds goalkeeper Luke Steele £1,000 and warned him as to his future conduct as he merely wore an under-garment displaying an advertising logo.

The two counts of the breached rule were the games against Leicester and Hull. The 23-year-old appealed against the decision to punish him last week but evidently, the FA held no sympathy for him.

All this, and the FA turned a blind eye when a certain Brian Laws fielded 6 loan players instead of just five...the mind boggles.

Onto better news, and Reds physio Matt Konopinski has given the latest on the three long term injury sufferers on the Reds books.

The news regarding Heinz Muller:

"Heinz has been doing a lot of running work in the first week of pre-season training. He has also done some functional football work as well as a goalkeeping session with Kelham.

"He is heading in the right direction and is very happy and confident. He is exactly where he should be at this stage.

"We have to make sure that we do not rush him and we are not putting a date on his comeback just yet. He is still doing well but we are not working to a timeframe at the moment".

Brazilian midfielder Anderson de Silva is a month behind, but doing well:

"Anderson is doing very well and is right where he should be at this moment in time. He is doing some running work on the training pitch every day and has also started some dribbling drills with the ball.

"He is also working hard in the gym to build up his strength and balance. He is right on course for a return later this summer but we are not working to a definite timeframe at the moment to give him every chance to make the quickest recovery".

And young striker Michael Coulson is 'chomping at the bit' to get back:

"Michael is now eight weeks post op and he is chomping at the bit to get going and start running again but he has to wait another month.

"He is recovering very, very well and we have to hold him back a bit. We need to give his knee time to settle down and for the cruciate ligament to heal but we are very pleased with how things are going".

Meanwhile, former Red Tommy Wright has been linked with a move to the SPL following reports Aberdeen have opened contract negotiations with hima fter agreeing a fee with current club Darlington.

Tommy joined the Reds from Leicester in January 2006 and made 35 appearances, mostly from the bench, only netting twice.
