Fixtures: Cov To Open, Cardiff To Finish

Barnsley will kick off the 2007-2008 Championship season at home for the third season in a row as Iain Dowie brings his Coventry City side to Oakwell on Saturday 11th August 2007. With strong rumors linking Daniel Nardiello with a return to his home city club, he looks set for a run-out at Oakwell no matter who he chooses.

The home game with Coventry is then followed by Colchester United away the following Saturday (this is also the third season in a row that The Reds will have traveled to Layer Road in the opening 3 games of the season, with 1 win and 1 defeat from the previous two) and then a home game with Plymouth Argyle follows.

Key dates to look out for are the clashes with the two Sheffield rivals- United and Wednesday. Barnsley travel to Hillsborough in November and Bramall Lane in December before hosting both sides in March.

Fans looking forward to booking a weekend in Blackpool will be disappointed however, as the meeting with the newly promoted Seasiders at Bloomfield Road is scheduled for a Tuesday night in March - typical hey.

Barnsley then finish their season with a trip to the same city they finished their season in 2006. Last season The Reds started the season with Cardiff, next season they finish it with Cardiff, at Ninian Park on Sunday 4th May 2008.
