Former Barnsley coach sacked by Congo

Former Reds coach and brief caretaker manager Mick Wadsworth has been sacked as coach of the Democratic Republic of Congo, after their disappointing showing at the African Cup of Nations.

Mick was only appointed in November and his team lost all three games in the tournament, scoring one goal - but did join Newcastle striker Tresor Lomano Lua Lua in complaining bitterly about the team's treatment by the Tunisian organisers.

Lua Lua was dismissed in a crunch game against the hosts, and Wadsworth agreed that the conditions had not been ideal for success.
