Barnard told The Scotsman: "I wouldn't be here if I wasn't serious about a move to Scotland and playing at Ibrox or Celtic Park in front of 50,000 certainly appeals.

"I am still in the Wales squad and the last two games I played were against Russia in the Euro 2004 play-offs. We are in the same group as England and Northern Ireland for the World Cup qualifiers so if I was playing in the SPL it would stand me in good stead".

Former Barnsley loan player David Murphy is set to have a trial with Hibernian.
