Free Coach Travel for Southend

Barnsley benefactor Patrick Cryne has dipped his hands into his pocket to offer free Official Coach Travel to fans intending to head to Roots Hall for the FA Cup Fourth Round tie with Southend United.

With the game being switched to Friday 25th January instead of Saturday 26th due to Southend's league game with Leeds on Monday 28th it would mean an arduous 12 hour round trip with many fans not getting home until the early hours of Saturday morning.

This had led to Cryne offering free travel to all fans

BarnsleyBoy says:

A great gesture by Patrick and the board. I think the change to a Friday night would have put many fans off going but the offer of free travel (I think the coach cost was around £19 for the league game last season) should mean more fans heading down to Roots Hall. Well Done Patrick!

Meanwhile Heinz Muller and new signing Diego Leon could both be in the Reds side to face Norwich City at Oakwell on Saturday.

Muller suffered a groin strain during last weekend's 2-1 FA Cup win over Blackpool and was replaced by Kyle Letheren at half time but after a scan Physio Richard Kay has given the giant German the all clear.

Speaking to www.barnsleyfc.co.uk Kay said:

"Heinz went yesterday afternoon for a scan on his groin. The good news is that it came back all clear and showed nothing at all.

"We will assess him today to make sure he is fine to train although we will keep a very close eye on him leading up to the weekend".

New boy Leon, signed from Grasshopper Zurich is all set for a debut against the Canaries after coming through 90 minutes in the Reserves 1-1 draw with Sheffield United. Leon's clearance did not come through in time for the Blackpool cup tie but coach Kelham O'Hanlon told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"Diego came through the 90 minutes which was a big thing for him and for us. He did ok to be fair especially when you think that it was his first full game in a while. He looked in decent nick.

"It was a difficult game on a poor pitch and Diego was playing with lads he does not know very well and has only trained with for a short time. He did what we expected of him really and he is technically a very, very good player.

"We are very pleased with what he did last night".
