Former Barnsley star Adam Hammill has joined Championship rivals Middlesbrough on loan until the end of the season.

Hammill, who left Oakwell in January last year in favour of a move to Wolves has made just 23 appearances for the Premier League side, after a £700,000 move.

Boro boss Tony Mowbray spoke of the move:

"Adam's capable of bringing a different ingredient to the squad,"

"He also has a bit of individuality, he's versatile enough to play in any midfield position and he creates extra competition within the squad."

The Scouse-born winger started out at his hometown club Liverpool, failing to make a single appearance before being snapped up by the Reds after an impressive loan spell, scoring 13 in 78 appearances in his year and a half at Oakwell.

Hammill is likely to line up against the Reds on Tuesday night when they travel to the Riverside to play Middlesbrough.
