With just 24 hours to go until the summer transfer window closes, the Reds have snapped up Adam Jackson from Middlesbrough, and Adam Armstrong from Newcastle.

Jackson, aged 22, joins from Boro on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee. Highly rated on Teesside despite not appearing at a senior level at the Riverside, Jackson had a successful loan spell with Hartlepool last season, making 25 appearances.

The next signing needs no introduction, having bagged twice against the Reds last term for Coventry City. 19-year-old Armstrong joins on a loan deal from Newcastle until January.

He found the net 20 times for the Sky Blues in total, and joins a strikeforce of Sam Winnall and Tom Bradshaw. These three scored 65 goals between them in League One last season.

Meanwhile, outgoing is one of last seasons Johnstones Paint Trophy and Playoff Final heroes Alfie Mawson, who, as expected, has joined Premier League side Swansea City.

The Swans have paid an undisclosed fee for 22-year-old Mawson, thought to be in the region of £5m.
