Reds captain Brian Howard's dreams of turning out for Scotland have been dashed after it was revealed he played a competitive game for the England Under 16s.

Howard has been watched by Scotland manager George Burley after it was revealed he has a Glaswegian father. It was also believed he had only played non competitive games for England U20s but the Scottish FA have now confirmed he has played competitively for England and therefore can not switch.

Meanwhile young striker Scott McGrory has joined Harrogate Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 20 year old midfielder was a regular for the Academy and Reserves but never made his first team debut.

Harrogate are currently fourth in the Blue Square North and are chasing a Play-Off place.
