The 28-year-old Macedonian international moved to Holland to join NEC Nijmegen in the summer of 2000, after leaving Barnsley.
He enjoyed a strong first season scoring 15 goals in 25 games and was a target for Ajax but a series of injuries proved serious.
Hristov moved to Zwolle but another knee injury meant he played rarely.
