Four of Barnsley’s players were in action last night for their respective countries.

Winger Paddy McCourt played 16 minutes of Northern Ireland’s 0-0 draw in Cyprus after replacing former Reds transfer target Oliver Norwood in the 74th minute.

Brek Shea, who was allegedly, involved in an unsavoury incident with Reds fans after the 5-0 defeat at Huddersfield last weekend came on in the 63rd of the United States 2-0 defeat in Ukraine, replacing Edgar Castillo.

There was great delight at Oakwell as 19 year old midfielder Paul Digby earned his third cap for the England Under 19’s in a 3-0 victory over Turkey. “Diggers” came on with 23 minutes remaining.

Meanwhile goalkeeper Christian Dibble was an unused substitute in the Wales Under 21’s 1-0 defeat against England, a game in which former Reds players Jack Butland and John Stones played the full 90 minutes for the Young Lions.
