Barnsley will be searching for another head coach, after Lee Johnson was today confirmed as Bristol City's new boss.

After being given permission to speak to City yesterday, it would seem both parties have come to a quick decision, with Johnson watching on from the stands at their game with Charlton Athletic today, less than 48 hours after leading Barnsley to a Wembley final.

A brief statement on the Barnsley FC official site read:

We have been advised by Lee Johnson that he wishes to join Bristol City. Barnsley Football Club have accepted his decision and agreed proper compensation with Bristol City. We are very grateful to Lee for his hard work and commitment at Barnsley Football Club, which culminated in us reaching the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final. We wish him every success in his new role.

For the time being, Paul Heckingbottom and Tommy Wright will take responsibility for first-team matters.

The Club will make further statements to fans as appropriate.
