Loan Deadline Looms

The loan deadline ends at 5pm on Thursday (22nd November 2007) and Reds boss Simon Davey has refused to rule in or rule out the possibility of more recruits.

Currently The Reds have two loanees, Lewin Nyatanga and Jon Macken (both from Derby) but with The Reds having failed to score from open play for SIX games it is hoped another striker could be on the horizon, Davey though told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"I have one or two irons in the fire and if they come off great but if not then I am happy with what we have got"

One possible player leaving the club could be goal-keeper Nick Colgan who has been linked with a loan move to League Two strugglers Wrexham. It is believed Davey is ready to give Wales U21 International Kyle Letheren a chance to step up to the bench. Letheren signed for Barnsley in the summer of 2006 but is yet to make a first team appearance.
