Barnsley’s Yorkshire rivals Leeds United have appointed Brian McDermott as their new manager today.
The 52 year old was sacked by Reading in March after four years despite winning the Championship title and leading them into the Premier League last May.
The former Cardiff player takes over from Neil Warnock at Elland Road with the West Yorkshire outfit floundering in 17th place, just five points off the bottom three after going seven matches without victory, in which they have lost each of the last four.
