Barnsley boss Mark Robins has moved swiftly to replace crocked full back Jay McEveley by signing Wolves’ Matt Hill on an emergency one month loan deal.

A scan this afternoon confirmed 25 year old McEveley sustained a medial knee ligament injury during the 3-0 defeat at Burnley last night and is now set for a considerable spell on the sidelines.

Replacing him will be 29 year old Hill. The former Bristol City and Preston defender joined Wolves in the winter of 2008 but has made just 17 appearances for Mick McCarthy’s side and has not featured for them since the controversial 3-0 defeat at Manchester United back in December of last year when the Molineux outfit were handed a suspended £25,000 fine for supposedly fielding a weakened team. Hill spent the second half of last season on loan at Queens Park Rangers where he made 16 appearances.

Robins told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"Matt is an experienced Championship defender and that is what we need at the moment following Jay McEveley's injury. I am delighted to have brought him to the club".
