McNulty To Sign Next Week

Jim McNulty is the latest “retainee” to accept a new one-year contract with the club and is expected to sign on the dotted line on Tuesday when he returns from holiday.

The 28 year old signed from Brighton in the summer of 2011 and after a decent 2011-2012 campaign where he made 46 appearances for the club, he suffered a disjointed and injury hit 2012-2013, appearing in just 14 matches, missing all of March and most of April.

The former Wrexham trainee was though one of seven players offered new deals by the club, and like Jason Scotland, Tom Kennedy and Kelvin Etuhu, McNulty has agreed to stay.

It just leaves Luke Steele, Bobby Hassell and Martin Cranie to decide whether to commit or leave. As revealed yesterday, long-term stalwarts Steele and Hassell are believed to be disappointed at being offered just 12-month contracts, on reduced wages whilst former Southampton man Cranie is still mulling over the deal after his fine season with The Reds has seen numerous clubs become interested in him.
