New Barnsley loanee Michael Mifsud helped Malta to their first point in the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers last night as he played the full 90 minutes in a 0-0 draw with Albania.

The 27 year old even came close to adding to his 20 international goals with three minutes remaining when he forced a good save from Albania goal-keeper Isla Hidi.

Malta- who have never qualified for a major tournament, and indeed have only ever won four competitive matches remain bottom of the European 2010 World Cup Qualifying Group with one point, four off the nearest side Sweden and six off the leaders Denmark and Hungary. Malta have also yet to score a goal in this 2010 competition, having lost 4-0, 3-0, 3-0 and 1-0 previously.
