More upheaval at Oakwell

Peter Hasken has threatened to quit as Director of Barnsley's renowned Academy unless it's future is guaranteed.

Hasken is disillusioned with Peter Doyle's assertions that the Academy is too expensive to maintain: "We're producing three or four players each year, so it doesn't make sense to get rid of it".

Upon becoming owner of the club, Doyle was initially positive about what he saw as 'the future of Barnsley FC', but has recently stated that the Academy's £700,000 per year running costs are not viable.

Hasken insists, however, that Barnsley's Academy "is one of the most cost-effective in the country - and costs far less than the figure reported".
