New Deal For Davies

Reds goalkeeper Adam Davies has signed a two-year contract extension at Oakwell after an impressive second half of the season.

The 22-year-old who joined the Reds from Sheffield Wednesday last summer spent most of the season playing understudy to Ross Turnbull after he made his debut in September.

But Turnbull suffered another injury in the 5-1 demolition at Crawley Town, one that would rule him out until the end of the season. Davies grabbed his opportunity with both hands, keeping five clean sheets in his first five games back.

All in all, he has made 25 appearances for the Reds.

He has been rewarded for his form with the contract extension, and he spoke to www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"I'm really happy to have signed a new deal. I'm really settled here and feel I've improved my game last season.

"I want to kick on now and, hopefully, next season we can push on for promotion."
