Goal-keeper David Scarsella has left the club after they terminated his contract.

Scarsella who was signed by previous manager Paul Hart in the summer of 2004 as understudy to Nick Colgan from Adelaide United, failed to make a single appearance for The Reds and was shipped out on loan by current manager Andy Ritchie to Tooting & Mitcham United earlier this season.

Scarsella has made numerous reserve appearances for The Reds and appeared on the subs bench six times this season but fell to third choice at the end of last season due to the emergence of Scott Flinders, who was chosen ahead of Scarsella to replace the injured Ross Turnbull at the end of 2004/2005.

Meanwhile striker Barry Conlon has hinted that he fears for his Barnsley future.

Conlon who is expected to return from injury in the reserves against Stoke City tonight told BBC Radio Sheffield:

" I don't think they're going to offer me anything. If we're in the play-offs, I might have a role if Andy Ritchie needs me. All I can do is get myself right and put myself in the shop window.

Conlon who had a storming start to his Barnsley career last season before injury cruely thrust him into the background has made 13 appearances for The Reds this season, scoring the first goal against Nottingham Forest back in September. He joined fellow League One rivals Rotherham in October, before injury again ruined his season.

Barry Conlon, Tony Vaughan and Dale Tonge are all set to return from injury in todays Reserve game with Stoke City.
