Former Barnsley midfielder Nicky Wroe is heading back into the Football League after helping his current club Torquay win the Blue Square Premier Play-Off Final yesterday.

Torquay defeated Cambridge 2-0 at Wembley to end their two year exile in the non-league and Wroe, 23, who started his career at Oakwell in 2003 and made 59 appearances before leaving in 2007 played the full 90minutes.

Wroe is remarkably one of SIX ex Barnsley players playing in Play-Off Finals this month. Brian Howard and Chris Morgan will line up for Sheffield United against Burnley in the Championship Final whilst Paul Hayes, Grant McCann and Sam Togwell will be hoping to help Scunthorpe to victory over Millwall in League One.
