Barnsley will miss out on a South Yorkshire derby with Rotherham United next season after the Millers secured back-to-back promotions in the League One Play-Off Final yesterday.

Rotherham, who will be now be in a higher league than The Reds for the first time in 10 years came from 2-0 down to defeat Leyton Orient on penalties at Wembley. Chris Dagnall, who left Barnsley for Orient in January, saw his decisive penalty saved.

Meanwhile The Reds will be taking on Fleetwood for the first time EVER in 2014/2015 after the Lancashire outfit secured an historic sixth promotion in nine years, defeating Burton 1-0 today.

When Barnsley were last relegated to the third tier in 2002, Fleetwood had just finished 14th in the North West Counties Division One. Former Barnsley strikers Iain Hume and Jon Parkin were in the Fleetwood side that claimed promotion today, coming just two years after they won the Blue Square Premier title under former Reds assistant manager Micky Mellon.
