No Striker On The Horizon

Barnsley boss Simon Davey is ready to go with he's got for the 2007-2008 Coca-Cola Championship season.

Davey has signed Iain Hume, Hugo Roberto Colace, Mounir El Haimour and Darren Moore as he aims for a top half Championship finish next season.

The Reds had been linked with another striker with failed bids for Kevin Phillips and Kevin Lisbie and reports they were going to bid for Celtic's Derek Riordan.

This though is not the case according to Davey who told teamtalk:

"I've probably finished yes, but if someone becomes available we have the scope to bring them in.

"But I'm quite happy with what I've got now and we're working hard towards the opening game.

"There's real belief in this group. The four extra players have really strengthened the squad and we're aiming to improve our league position."
