Npower Championship Matchday Fifteen: Derby County v Barnsley

Last updated : 05 November 2012 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Team News:

Barnsley have been dealt yet ANOTHER injury blow to their already vastly depleted squad after David Perkins was ruled out for at least a month with a hamstring injury. Manager Keith Hill hopes to have Jacob Mellis back to replace Perkins whilst Jim McNulty and Jim O’Brien are pushing for their first league appearances of the season.

It remains to be same whether Hill opts to start either Marlon Harewood or Chris Dagnall after opting to start the weekend defeat at Hull without a recognised striker.

Interesting Stats:

Derby have won just two of their last six league matches but have lost just one of the last seven.

The Rams thumped Blackpool at the weekend but it is eight months since they last won back-to-back games.

Nigel Clough’s side have lost just once at Pride Park this season and only Cardiff and Bristol City have scored more goals on their own turf in 2012-2013.

Barnsley have lost four of their last six matches but have won two of their last four away matches and have only conceded twice in that run.

Only once this season have Barnsley managed to score more than once in a game- the 5-0 thumping of Birmingham. Their total of 15 goals in 14 Championship games is the second lowest in the division. Only bottom placed Ipswich with 11 have scored less.

The Reds are undefeated in their last four trips to Pride Park, stretching back to 2006, but have drawn three of those. They have won just five of 30 visits to this part of the East Midlands and just one of the last 12.

If Barnsley lose tomorrow it will be their third successive defeat, the first time that would have happened this season.
