Interesting Stats
Barnsley are still undefeated at the Cardiff City Stadium. A brace from Daniel Bogdanovic earned them a surprise 2-0 victory on their first visit there in 2010, whilst an 89th minute effort from Andy Gray snatched a 2-2 draw in March.
That Bogdanovic inspired success in February of last year was however just one of two victories The Reds have managed against the men from the Welsh capital in their last 12 meetings. The other one being the corresponding game of that season when a 90th minute free kick from Carl Dickinson snatched a 1-0 win at Oakwell.
Of course the most significant meeting between these two teams was at Wembley in April 2008, when they met in the Semi-Finals of the FA Cup and a ninth minute strike from Joe Ledley put Cardiff in the FA Cup Final.
The Bluebirds- who have reached the Championship Play-Offs in each of the last two seasons, have momentarily slipped out of the promotion picture after winning just two of their last 10 league matches. But they have been beaten just once at the Cardiff City Stadium this campaign- 3-1 to Brighton in August.
Barnsley saw their unbeaten away start end with a 2-0 defeat at Portsmouth last Saturday, but bounced back on Tuesday to register only their second home win this season. That 2-0 win over Burnley was only their fourth in their last 18 matches.
The Red have though lost just one of their previous nine games. It is the first time they have lost as few as three of their first 12 games since the 2007-2008 season when they were eighth at this point.
They are though mirroring their form of last season as in 2010-2011 they also had 15 points from 12 games.
13 is proving an unlucky number for Barnsley. Not since the 2003-2004 season have The Reds won their 13th match of a season.
