Interesting Stats:

Things were all rosy for Wednesday back in August. After securing promotion from League One they won three and drew one of their first four Championship matches. They have though managed just two victories from the next 18 and have lost their last seven in a row- their worst losing streak since the 2000-2001 season when they suffered eight consecutive defeats under Paul Jewell.

The Owls have in total lost 15 of their last 18 league matches, their worst run ever, beating the previous worst of 14 from 17 which they set in 1975 when they finished the season bottom of the Second Division by 11 points.

They have lost four of their last five matches on the road and won only once away from Hillsborough this season, 3-0 at Ipswich back in October and their record of four points away from home is the worst in the division.

Barnsley are now without a win in their last 10 matches, their worst run since they finished the 2009-2010 season winless in 10.

The Reds have also failed to win any of their last eight matches at home and have managed just two victories at Oakwell this season.

The Reds have managed just eight goals at home, the lowest in the Championship.

Barnsley are searching for only their second home win against the Owls in seven attempts. The last time they secured maximum points from an Oakwell tussle was in October 2008 and Wednesday defeated The Reds 2-1 the last time they visited, in 2010.

Indeed The Reds have won just two of the last 13 league and cup meetings home and away with the blue men from down the A61.

Barnsley are on their lowest point total at this stage of the season for 11 years, Wednesday are on their lowest for 10 years. Both teams were relegated at the end of those respective seasons.
