Former Reds defender Brian O'Callaghan's hopes of securing a permanent deal while at Crewe have been hit by injury.

The 23-year-old picked up a knock which ruled him out of yesterday's reserve clash at Stockport.

O'Callaghan was given a month on trial to show he could help solve the Alex's defensive crisis but his fitness has suffered because he has not been training full-time since his summer release from Oakwell and he has now been sidelined in the Reaseheath treatment room.
