Barnsley have taken experienced centre back Andre Bikey on trial to see if his fitness is up to scratch to aide The Reds League One campaign.

The 31-year-old Cameroonian has been playing in India with NortEast United FC after an extensive career in England. He has made 206 appearances for Reading, Burnley, Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Charlton in this country as well as making 19 appearances for his country.

Reds head coach Lee Johnson has confirmed Bikey is training with the club but there is no immediate deal in the pipeline.

Meanwhile, 24 hours after extending the loan of Kevin Long from Burnley, Barnsley have extended the arrangement for Lloyd Isgrove to remain at Oakwell from Southampton for the rest of the season.

The 23 year old has made 13 appearances since arriving in October and despite losing in each of his four games, Barnsley have won five of the subsequent nine.

And in another boost, youngster Matty Templeton has today signed a new contract tying him to Oakwell until the summer of 2017.

The 19-year-old Academy graduate netted on his first team home debut in the 4-2 victory over Blackpool.
