Jamaican international O'Neil Thompson has completed his permanent move to Oakwell from Norwegian side Notodden FK.

The defender/midfielder impressed on his debut in the 1-1 draw with Manchester City and Reds boss Simon Davey has moved quick to capture him on a two year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The deal is subject to a work permit being granted.

Davey told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"We are delighted to have brought O'Neil into the squad and he will be a great addition to what we are trying to build at this football club.

"He has impressed everybody during his time at Oakwell and he is a player with great stature, composure and presence on the pitch and one that we feel will bring a lot to our squad".
