Pre-Season Programme Taking Shape

Barnsley's 2008-2009 pre-season will have a familiar look about it as three teams who the Reds faced in summer 2007 are set to face them again.

Wigan, Rotherham and Buxton are likely to be joined by York and Glossop as Barnsley prepare for a third successive season in the Championship.

The Wigan match, set for Oakwell, is pencilled in for Tuesday 29th July, probably with a 7:45pm kick-off. The other friendlies are all likely to be away from home and dates for them have yet to be set.

According to today's Barnsley Chronicle, The Reds face a real fight to hang on to skipper Brian Howard, who has a year left on his contract.

His agent told the Chron that he has received an offer from a club who are willing to double his current wages of around £4,000 a week.

And finally has anybody realised- Simon Davey has become only the second manager in eight years to complete a full season in charge at Oakwell! Well done SD!
