Well its finally happened... Hull City have beaten us!!

The Reds Academy started their pre-season with a 3-2 home defeat to local rivals Hull City.

Barnsley led twice but were still pegged back.

Danny Warburton fired The Reds 1-0 up and Liam Ormsby made it 2-1 but a succession of substituations helped Hull claim victory.

Barnsley's Academy manager Ronnie Branson told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"We gave the full squad a run out and everybody got a game. We changed players and system in the second half quite a bit and that cost us the result but at the end of the day the game was all about time on the pitch for our lads.

"We dominated most of the game and player better than Hull City. We were quite pleased with that aspect although a little disappointed to concede two late goals.

"The lads did ok although you have to give credit to Hull City for keeping going even though we were the better side.

"Making so many changes at once upset our rhythm and we struggled because of that although the game was all about getting fit and making sure the lads get some time on the pitch".
