Redfearn becomes Scarborough assistant manager

Former Barnsley legend Neil Redfearn has joined Scarborough as assistant manager to Nick Henry at the McCain Stadium.

The duo played together at Oldham and veteran midfielder Redfearn will continue playing next season.

Neil Redfearn's career:

1981: Joins Notts Forest as a junior but makes no appearances so moves to Bolton Wanderers.
1982: 35 league appearances for Wanderers lead to a £8250 move to Lincoln.
1984: Makes 90 league appearances for the Imps before leaving for Doncaster Rovers.
1986: 46 league starts for Doncaster scoring 14 goals.
1987: Crystal Palace pay £100,000 for his services. He goes on to make 57 league starts.
1988: Watford shell out £150,000 to sign Redfearn but it's not long before he makes a similar priced move to Oldham.
1990: Makes the move to Oldham and plays in 62 league games, scoring 16 goals.
1991: Barnsley spend £150,000 and as captain leads them to the Premiership. He makes 338 appearances for the Tykes. He scores 84 goals.
1998: Following Barnsley's relegation back to the football league, he signs for Charlton in a deal worth £1,000,000. His stay is short lived following their relegation from the Premiership.
1999: Joins Bradford City and makes 17 league appearances in his year at Valley Parade.
2000: Joins Wigan for £112,500 but is soon on the move again.
2001: Spends a season with Halifax after getting a free transfer from Wigan.
2002: Joins Boston on a free and goes on to make 54 league appearances, scoring 12 goals.
2004: Spends the last two months of the season with Rochdale.
2004: Is made the new assistant manager of Scarborough FC.
