Barnsley born Mark Crossley has been named the club’s new goalkeeping coach following the departure of Ian Wilcox last week.

Crossley, 44, had a glittering playing career although he never played for his hometown club.

The 8 capped Welsh international turned out for Nottingham Forest (where he made 303 of his 451 appearances during an 11 year stay at the City Ground and then moved on to Middlesbrough, Fulham, Oldham and Chesterfield plus loan spells with Manchester United, Millwall, Stoke and Sheffield Wednesday.

He retired from playing in 2011 and has since held coaching roles with Chesterfield and Wednesday, who he only joined in August.
