Barnsley have today secured themselves something of a coup by bringing in Harry Chapman on loan from Middlesbrough.

The 18 year old is one of the most highly rated youngsters in the country and has excelled for Boro’s youth team especially in their UEFA Youth League campaign where he was hailed as a “phenomenon” by an Italian journalist after scoring a wonder, solo goal in a 3-3 draw with Torino.

Chapman who will remain at Oakwell until the 8th May and will wear the number 32 shirt is already an England Under 21 international and helped Boro’s Under 21 side to a domestic treble last season.

Tipped to break into Aitor Karanka’s first team in the near future Chapman is now set to make his professional debut in Barnsley’s game at Crewe tomorrow.

Caretaker head coach Paul Heckingbottom told the club’s official website:

"I'm delighted to have Harry join us,"

"He is an exceptional talent and is very highly thought of at Middlesbrough. We're very grateful to them for allowing him to join us.

"I'm sure he can prove valuable for us as we head into the final run-in, and hopefully we will prove valuable to him in his development as a promising young footballer."
