Reds Could Look To Win The Pools.

Last updated : 08 December 2013 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley’s latest FA Cup campaign will start with a home tie against either Hartlepool United or Coventry City.

The Reds, who reached the Quarter-Finals last season and the Semi-Finals in 2008 have been given a home third round tie for the third successive year.

They will face either League Two Hartlepool or League One Coventry who drew 1-1 at Hartlepool’s Victoria Park ground yesterday.

If it is the Pools who triumph they will face Barnsley for the first time in 14 years (as it will be 2014 when the tie is played). Each of the last three Oakwell meetings have been drawn and Barnsley have only ever lost ONCE to Hartlepool at home (in 1967) and Barnsley have won 13 of the 19 games.

They have found life tougher against Coventry, although they have won each of the last two Oakwell meetings. They had lost each of the four prior to that.
