.....Barnsley have been handed a home tie with League One new boys Rochdale. It is the first time The Reds have been drawn at home in the first round in three years, and is a repeat of the first round tie back in 1996-1997 (anybody looking for omens). That year in a two legged affair Barnsley lost 2-1 at Spotland but won 2-0 at Oakwell to go through 3-2 on aggregate.
Those meetings are the only ones between the two sides in the last 31 years and the last time they were paired in league combat was the 1978-79 season in the Fourth Division, with each side winning the away game 3-0- that success for the Dale is their only one in 19 trips to Oakwell.
Meanwhile the fixtures for the nPower 2010-2011 Championship season will be released tomorrow!!!!
