Barnsley will travel to Budapest as part of their pre-season preparations for the 2017-2018 campaign.

The Reds who announced UK friendlies with AFC Guiseley, Grimsby, Coventry and Rochdale earlier in the week will make a 1,242 mile trek to the Hungarian capital from Monday 3rd July to Saturday 8th July with (as of yet) no fixtures announced.

Barnsley have however announced another friendly for their domestic programme as they will face South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United at the New York Stadium on Saturday 29th July (3pm).

The Millers finished bottom of the Championship in 2016-2017 with the lowest points total at this level ever since the system changed to three points for a win in 1981 (23) - Bristol Rovers also achieved only 23 points in the final season of two points for a win, 1980-1981.

Rotherham were also only one of two teams that Barnsley did the league double over in 2016-2017 with Blackburn being the other.

Most recent meetings:

28/01/2017 Rotherham 0-1 Barnsley (Adam Armstrong 70) (Championship)

27/08/2016 Barnsley (Marc Roberts 54, Adam Hammill 57, Tom Bradshaw 86, Ryan Kent 90) 4-0 Rotherham (Championship)

Rotherham finished 2016-2017 in 24th place in the Championship and will play in the third tier for the first time since 2014.

Barnsley are unbeaten in nine competitive meetings with the Millers.
