Barnsley have signed Port Vale's 18 goal hitman Leon Constantine for a reported £200,000 plus Marc Richards.

Constantine was linked with The Reds early in the season and has now agreed to move to the Championship.

Constantine has been in fine form in a Vale side that, after a bright start in League One this season, have slipped to 11th.

The former Millwall man has bagged 18 goals in 30 starts this campaign and an amazing 30 goals in just 67 appearances for the Valiants.

As well as £200,000 striker Marc Richards will also be joining Martin Foyle's side.

Richards who as you all will know is not exactly my favourite player despite scoring 17 goals in 74 apperances has agreed to move back down to League One after falling out of the starting line-up under Simon Davey.

Richards last goal for The Reds was in a 2-2 draw with Plymouth back in October.

Both players will sign once personal terms and medicals have been finalised

There are also rumors Vale wanted to take their former loanee Sam Togwell as well but Davey rejected that proposal.

Richards will therefore not be available for today's visit of Preston but neither will Constantine
