Talks between Walsall manager Paul Merson and Birch about a new contract are still ongoing and sources in the Midlands claim Birch has already been offered a two-year deal at Oakwell.
Birch, 23, played eight games for Barnsley, scoring twice but wasn't thought too highly of by most Reds fans.
