Media in Scotland are reporting that Barnsley are very close to securing their first signing of the summer of 2017.
St Mirren midfielder Stevie Mallan is reportedly arriving at Oakwell for talks in the next 72 hours after the two clubs agreed a £200,000 fee.
Mallan, 21, was born in Glasgow but signed professional terms with Paisley outfit St Mirren in 2013 and made his debut for the club in November 2014 in the Scottish Premiership.
He scored four times in 25 games in 2014-2015 but could not help his side avoid relegation. He has gone on to score 25 times in two Scottish Championship campaigns (14 last season, 11 this) -making him the club's top scorer in each of those seasons- but after a seventh placed finish for St Mirren in 2016-2017 he is ready to leave with just a year of his contract to go.
The £200,000 fee is believed to include a sell-on clause.
