Reds boss Simon Davey has laughed off a report in this weekend's Sunday People which claimed in-form midfielder Brian Howard had HANDED IN A TRANSFER REQUEST and that Derby County were interested with a price tag of £4m.
Davey though told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:
"Brian has not - in any way - requested a transfer from Barnsley Football Club".
And Howard who has hit 6 goals in the opening 10 games of the season and who signed a new two year contract in the summer added:
My future is here at Barnsley Football Club. You cannot pay any attention to what you read in the papers".
I can only think the People got Howard mixed up with goal-keeper Nick Colgan who did hand in a transfer request last week and who on the same page was linked with a move to Andy Ritchie's Huddersfield!
Blooming media eh ;)
